What To Expect
The First Appointment
If you are interested only in cosmetic dentistry, we offer a free cosmetic consultation to all new patients. During the consultation we will discuss your cosmetic options for creating the smile you have always wanted. Otherwise for general dental patients, at your first visit, all areas of your mouth will be thoroughly examined. This process will include a detailed examination of the teeth, soft tissue, supporting structure alignment, bite and more. A complete set of x-rays will be taken and models of your teeth will be made if necessary. We also perform an oral cancer screening and chart for periodontal disease. All of the information that we obtain will be carefully evaluated so that we may accurately assess your dental needs.
Dental Evaluation and Plan for Treatment
After your preventive appointment, we will explain your dental evaluation and plan for treatment. Immediate needs as well as long term objectives will be based on the goal of you receiving maximum life for your natural teeth. If you only need a routine cleaning, we may also do that in the first appointment.
Payment for insurance co-pays or non-covered dental services is expected at the time services are performed. We accept cash, checks, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. When extensive dental care is necessary, financial arrangements can be made with our office manager. Please inquire about our financing plans. Our primary concern is your dental health. Nonetheless, we will be sensitive to your financial circumstances within the framework of sound business practices and will help you to get the financing needed whenever possible.
Cosmetic Dentistry and Insurance
Cosmetic procedures are generally not covered by most dental insurance policies; however, partial benefits are often available if the teeth are broken or have previous fillings, bonding, or crowns. Most insurance plans pay approximately 80% of the cost for fillings, however on posterior (molar or bicuspid) teeth, there may be an additional charge if the filling is done with resin (tooth colored) material vs. amalgam (silver). We are always happy to explain your dental benefits and help you to determine which option fits your budget.
